   Swedish Lappland March 2010 |
03/29/2010 - by Simon from UK | Board (171): Generally very easy and efficient conversion from board to ski and back. Quite impressive. In board mode (luckily only really had soft forgiving conditions during my test tour) makes a very solid platform and a lovely bit of kit to ride.
Works sufficiently well in touring mode, with the only downside being traversing in less than perfect conditions. I was able eventually to edge through everything my skiing buddies had, but had it got much harder i would have needed the crampon attachment.
Board creates much interest in Arctic Sweden.
Skins: Climb pretty well. Damaged quite easily on their first afternoon out in Scotland. Despite Scotland suffering the best conditions theyve seen in a generation. No further tears since then, just unlucky i guess.
Cheat Sheets: Work well, much appreciated. Unfortunately due to the speed with which they are reducing in width as the material spools off, another couple of weeks use and they'll be brazilian style.

09/03/2009 - by Backcountry Magazine from www.backcountrymagazine.com | Sized for Men and Women, the Mojo cast a spell on testers this year. It dominated in powder, earning high marks for ease of turn initiation with the same directional shape, dimensions, and traditional camber as last year. Testers of both sexes succumbed to the Mojo's magic: "Springy, sprightly; picks its way down steep slopes, and is most responsive to short-radius turns," a female tester said. " Still gets the Mojo flowin' in wide-open pow." A male tester found: "The Mojo is light underfoot and has a smooth torsional flex; it's tough to beat for technical terrian, where quick, reliable turns are a necessity." |
Never boot trail it again! |
11/10/2008 - by Alex Pearson from West Jordan, UT US | I have been riding for 18 years and have cut many a trail up the mountainside with my board on my back, all the while kicking my toes into the snow. Never again. I just bought the Mojo and I was amazed at my ability to climb effortlessly up the mountain. Not only was it an improvement on the machine-worked preseason runs, but once I hit the powder I was amazed at the floatation. I was able to cross terrain I would never have dared even with snowshoes. Once at the top, the ski to board conversion was almost effortless. Everything could be done with my gloves on so my hands didn't freeze. The board itself rode like it was one solid piece!
Just a couple of warnings. Some of the t-bolts on the board were slightly raised off the base, which made it difficult to wax. The wax was a bit thick and peeled off onto my skins, for which there is apparently no cure. Make sure you scrape the wax down on your board to a very thin level...if you wax it yourself.
I bought the SD Mtn plate bindings, which they themselves are excellent, but I used them with Koflach mountaineering boots. They worked great in powder, but the boots were way too soft and didn't offer any support when I got into choppier conditions. I plan on using the bindings often, but only with hardshell boots.
All in all, the performance and equipment was amazing. I would give it a 4.75 for the t-bolt issue, leaving it barely short of perfection. I would also recommend this over splitting a board yourself since you will lose the inside edge, which you may find helpful on icy or crusty conditions.
If you want to go touring, but not learn to telemark then this really is your best option! I will never cut another boot trail again. |
