The Voile Insane is an amazing balance between lightweight uphill and downhill high performance.
Made by Voile in Salt Lake City, Utah USA, we handcraft each pair of Insane skis using a premium Voile-made lightweight aspen wood core. Triaxial carbon glass provides strength to this core without sacrificing the lightweight of the ski and contributes to a lively and responsive performance on the down.
With its width, flex, short radius, and lightweight, the bottom line is the Insane performs extremely well in all backcountry snow conditions including the uphill.
The Insane is available with 4-hole inserts for mounting telemark bindings as well as a flat deck mounting platform for mounting AT bindings.

Backcountry Magazine 2010 Gear Guide |
09/09/2009 - by Backcountry Magazine from www.backcountrymagazine.com | Back On Voile's Crazy Train for another year, testers went nuts for the Insane. "Very light, great float, quick response, and stable on firm snow," extolled one tester. Another found it, "A ski for any condition." But the Insane likes a slower pace and a shorter turn. "Not for chargers or hard snow." warned a Summit County, Colo. tester. For moderate speeds in powder, however, testers concluded the Insane was, "Super fun, light, and lively." An Eastern maple-dodger found that it was, "Easy to initiate and release turns, and very predictable." Another said: "Floated great, bashed through crud, and carved hardpack like crazy." |
Insanes not just a powder ski |
12/20/2008 - by Dave Graham from Hotham Heights, Victoria AUST | Skied these in 172 with Switchbacks in Japan and Australia clocking up over a 100 days on these in the BC, slackcountry and resorts in all conditions imagineable. These are an incredibly versatile quick turning snappy ski for their girth ideal for any snow over toe height deep, their light weight makes them a great skis for attaching to your pack when bootpacking and long skinning. Not just a powder ski, great in crust, crud and slop. Mind you these are not a park and ride huge turn ski they reward people who like to ski with rhythm. A tight glade skiing must have and a suprisingly fun slush bump ski. Thanks Voile. |
