The 2010 Editor's Choice Drifter returns unchanged with lightweight aspen core construction, massive surface area, and a heavily rockered tip. Clearly, the Drifter was designed for deep powder, and in it's element, testers called it "smooth," "nimble," "surfy," and simply "funtastic." But in mixed conditions, scores drifted downhill in edge hold, short radius turns, and hard snow turn initiation. One tester called it, "A superb quiver ski for the deepest bc days." + "Easy, light, with lots of character. Wow what to say about the Drifter.Started out at resort in bounds with crushed granular,packed man-made, and icy spots for conditions. I was not very impressed,I thought oh' no' looks like I will not be skiing with my new skis after all. They were a real handfull, very squirrely and hard to control and that was day 1. That night we got about 12" of pow-pow and day 2 of skiing at the resort was like someone slipped me new and amazing skis. I must say that from the moment I got off the chairlift I just started smiling and thinking to myself YEA BABY now these are the skis that I want:carving fast or slow cranking turns big and small wow these skis floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee in the tight steep bumps or wide open bowls it was a whole different ski then day before and man was it SWEET. We got a good 8" to 10" more that night which made me even more excited for the next day to ski, I could barely sleep I was so pumped. Well with 2' of fresh powder and tracks on most of the mountain for my taking day 3 kicked but and kicked my butt, with 192mm Drifters I had to work real hard at pounding the mountain but boy was I rewarded with that hard work. These skis give back as much as you put in simply awesome. The next 3 days were backcountry time and I must say that these Drifters really had me drifting up to heaven. Wow don't let anyone tell you when things are going great that they can't get any better because anyone who says this has yet to try out the Voile Drifter. They really are a cool and exciting new school ski, especially for the telemark world. I have my 192mm Drifters mounted to Voile Hardwire 3-pin CRB Telemark Binding w/Ski Brake and I could not be happier. Thanks for making one killer tele ski

I bought these for shredding the Wasatch bc and they have proven to be capable of much more than that. The floatation in powder is undescribable but if I was to try It would be like water skiing only more effortless. Mounted with tele they come alive in tight glades and it is so easy to quick transition and make tight turns when surfing on these babies! Days at the resorts are just as brilliant, they destroy the crud and chop, and at 128 underfoot the edges still grab hold on the groom back to the lift! They are definately the envy of the lift line with those sexy top sheets as well. Well, these skis are the most fun i've had since laundry basket stair sledding. Thanks Voile

What, No Mental-Health Inspired Name? Even if Voile is losing it, the Drifter could be the biggest thing to hit the backcountry this year. Literally. It's monstrous. "A devil in a blue dress" one tester said. " Floats like an iceberg, but slices and dices when necessary." The economically priced and USA-made Drifter's tip and tail are rockered and tapered for float, but traditional sidecut underfoot provides traction between faceshots. Testers preferred the aspen-cored Drifter in longer radius turns at higher speeds, but with plenty of slashability and smearability, it's a capable mount; "Whatever kind of turn you want to try," according to a Colorado tester. Another added, "There's not much this ski won't do." A third summed it up: "Effortless, surfy, fun and innovative."
