A free-pivoting, alpine touring-style telemark binding, the new Voile Switchback allows backcountry telemark skiers to ascend with zero heel resistance thus conserving valuable energy and allowing for easier trail breaking. fracture follow up |
06/28/2009 - by TWL from park city, UT US | Update on my previous fatigue fracture review. Voile customer service was great and replaced my bindings with new heat treated toe pieces sight unseen. I wish other ski manufacturers had such good customer service. I have toured on BD 01 and G3 ascent - heavier and icing problems - this is the best touring binding out there and also skis great in bounds. |
    Switchback Toe-Plate Upgraded. |
06/26/2009 - by David Grissom - Voile-USA from Salt Lake City, UT US | The stainless steel on the Switchback toe-plate has been recently upgraded to a more durable heat-treated 410 stainless steel. We have only received a small number of warranties, but we are vigilant of any warranties and strive to make the best product possible. The Switchback has been one of Voile's most successful telemark bindings. Please feel free to contact Voile with any questions regarding your Switchback binding. Thanks for your business. |
    miles of smiles |
06/26/2009 - by bob hunt from Salt Lake City, UT US | Excellent product. The easy to operate touring pivot will add miles to your touring day. With the exception of a broken toe bar (quickly replaced by Voile), tough enough for high speed in-area use ... be sure to ask for the heat-treated toe piece. |
 fatigue fractures |
04/21/2009 - by TWL from park city, UT US | I loved these bindings so much I bought a pair two years ago and another pair last year for my powder skis. However, the older pair failed catastrophically last month from fatigue fractures at the bend points on the toe plate assembly. Both bindings had fractures in the same locations. So then I took a close look at the newer pair (appx 20 touring days on them) and they have cracks starting at the bend point where the toe plate assembly wraps around the top of the boot duckbill. I am willing to try again if Voile has done any re-design work to resolve the problem... |
